Nintendo Wii HD/Wii 2 Releasing Next Year, And Will be Revealed in June 2011[Confirmed]

So all the Nintendo Fans here's a Good news for all of you. Nintendo has finally confirmed that their next Nintendo Wii 2 /Wii HD Console will be available to all of you in Early 2011, And it will be Demoed in E3 Expo 2011, That is it will be happening this June.

Now here is some History of Nintendo, Nintendo released their First Wii console back in 2006, at that time it was the only Motion Sense Gaming Console Available, and it became a Huge Hit among users. But it was a Long time ago(2006), After Microsoft released their Kinect, The Nintendo Wii started to Fall down as it wasn't able to be compared with it in sense of Graphics and HD Support.

According to a Report, Nintendo almost sold 86.01 Million Console since its release(2006), But then sudden drop in the market of Nintendo Wii, As in 2010 they sold only 15.1 Million Wiis'. That is almost 25% Drop from 2009 when they sold some 20.1 Million Consoles.

So now after 5 Years they will be releasing their New HD Supported Console with some Extra Ordinary New Features. And it will also be a good time for Nintendo to release their Console, Because it's been confirmed that Sony and Microsoft won't be releasing any New Console till 2014.

So Lets Hope Nintendo give a big Surprise this June at E3 Expo at Los Angeles.

New Nintendo Wii 2 coming soon [Report]

It's been a long that that we haven't heard from Nintendo about any new model of Wii coming. But now there are many reports coming out through which it gives a little confirmation that the new Wii 2 in HD will be releasing soon, Maybe this Summer. Wii was one of the best Gaming Console before the Microsoft's Kinect was released, As the Microsoft released their new Xbox Kinect, Wii lost it's first place.

Game Informer has got confirmation from some of it's sources that Nintendo is to reveal might reveal their new HD version of Wii Console in E3 conference in Los Angeles in June or might be sooner.

We have confirmed with multiple sources that this new home system is capable of running games at HD resolutions. There are conflicting reports, however, as to whether its graphics will be comparable to those on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 – meaning it could surpass or fall short of those systems. Either way it will offer competitive specifications. Moving to HD should greatly help Nintendo and its new console in getting more multi-platform triple-A titles like Portal 2 or Mortal Kombat. This, in turn, will strengthen Nintendo's historically poor relationship with third-party publishers/developers.

The name of the new console is still not confirmed whether it would be the new Wii 2, Wii 360 or Wii HD? But still it would be more Powerful than Xbox 360 or Playstaion 3. According to a report from Kotako:

Nintendo has apparently been showing off the system to third-party developers so they can prepare titles for the console’s eventual launch in late 2012.

Nintendo still wants to be the best again, As they are said to drop the prices of Wii console in competition with Xbox and Playstation. So it's just a matter of time, No one knows what Nintendo will bring up in the coming months, But whatever it is it will definitely excite the Gamers Comunity.

We've heard about an HD Wii for some time now, and the time is perfect – almost necessary – for Nintendo to jump start itself with this new system. The company has been feeling the bite since Wii sales have declined from previous years, and this week's news that Nintendo could be dropping the price of the Wii on May 15 could be a precursor to this announcement and an attempt to move as many Wii units as possible out of the retail channel before the new system hits.

Microsoft's Kinect has now become an ultimate sensing Tool, Many people are now exploring this great gadget as they do more it's tweaking with it, the more they tweak the more is the fun using it. Xbox Kinect has now been Hacked to Work with Plasytation 3 [Video]

So it is true that the new Xbox kinect has been hacked by a Hacker to work it with Playstation 3. This Kinect has been Rigged by Shantanu Goel named hacker. This is a good news for those users who want to try new things but there are many other who won't even try it.

How it Works:

The architecture of this hack isn't too complicated, This hacks works when you connect a Kinect to a Laptop, through which the Kinect seeds the data to a DIYPS3Controller.And from their the data is sent to PS3 in form of control pad movement.

This hack is not in it's used by anyone until now except the hacker. But some people believe this idea won't be widely used by users.

This post describes my first attempt at making Kinect work with a PS3. Microsoft’s new XBOX 360 accessory, kinect has made a powerful entry into the market, becoming the fastest selling gadget of all time. Looks like their “You are the controller” tagline is working. Of course, Sony’s “similar” accessory Move is selling well too but is far behind kinect adoption probably because nothing beats the lure of making something work with just “The Force”

Now, of course, kinect doesn’t work with PS3 obviously but then if we can’t break the rules, we can at least bend them a little towards our way. I’ve created a mashup that allows you to use kinect as an input controller for the PS3.

Please note that this is pre-alpha quality software currently. I haven’t updated to a lot of recent code for the below libraries and also haven’t done most of the performance/feature improvements yet. The axis performance specially needs lot of tweaking and it works well only while sitting. Putting this out purely as a proof of concept. For the things that I plan to add soon, please see the Todo section below. Follow me at @shantanugoel for latest updates.

The program makes use of several other programs in order to provide this functionality. To compile/use it, you also need the following programs:
1. OpenNI Libraries
2. NITE Libraries
3. PrimeSense Libraries for kinect
4. DIYPS3Controller

Installation/Compilation/Usage
1. Make sure that the above 4 things are installed on your machine and working fine.
2. Download the source of this project to the NITE Samples directory. You can even place it anywhere else but you would need to tweak the makefile to account for the changed paths.
3. Make any changes to the source that you need.
4. Change the included ps3 controller config xml file and place it in one of the locations where diyps3controller can find it.
5. Run make -f kinect-ps3.mak
6. The executable will be available in Samples/Bin directory of NITE.
7. Run kinect-ps3 (without any arguments)
8. Run emuclient (from ps3 controller software) and choose the new xml config file
9. “Become the controller”

Default Config :
Menu Profile – This is the default profile that kinect-ps3 starts with and allows to operate the PS3 menus. Moving hand in any direction will move the ps3 menus as if you were using the DPAD with those directions keys pressed. If you run out of the kinect’s watched space, then just do a backward push with your hand, bring your hand to center and then again do the backward push and continue scrolling. This is like you lift your finger up and then start dragging from edges of a laptop’s touchpad.For selecting any item, make two successive push movements with your hand without changing any x-y direction.
Game Profile – This profile can be switched to by doing 3 successive backward movements of the hand while in Menu profile. Right now I’ve implemented only directional controls in game profile because I’m still struggling with multiple hands detections and skeletal tracking. A full profile will be activated soon enough. Currently, the your hand’s x/y movements and directly translated to right stick x/y movements (e.g. this is looking in different directions in various FPS games). Moving the hand towards or away from kinect (z-axis) translate to left stick y movements (e.g. this is moving forwards or backwards in most FPS games).

Gameloft to Develop Unreal Engine 3 Games for iOS and Android

Gameloft the one of the biggest game developing company has now decided to create Unreal Engine 3 Games for iOS and Android devices. They will be Patterning with the Epic Games to produce four major games for iOS and Android. According to them two of them will be released this year and the other two in 2012. And all these four games will be Unreal Engine 3 Powered.

For those who don't know, The Unreal Engine is a game engine developed by Epic Games. First illustrated in the 1998 first-person shooter game Unreal, it has been the basis of many games since, including Unreal Tournament, Deus Ex, Turok, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas, America's Army, Red Steel, Gears of War, BioShock and many other.

Microsoft to Unveil New Xbox Announcements at Game Developement Conference Next Week [Report]

Microsoft has arranged a press conference later this week, and most of the signs points that Microsoft will Unveil their New Xbox Announcements in this Conference. Next Week is the Game Developers Conference (GDC) and Software giant will be participating in this Conference. This list was settled by vote from readers and fans through the Guinness web site. Over 13,000 votes were counted for this poll, so that makes the results pretty strong.

Many Characters in the list definitely deserved to be in top 50, On the other hand The only real issue I take with the list is, perhaps, the perception of the term “character” and how fans voted them in. Master Chief, to me, is not the third best gaming character of all time. Does he deserve a spot on this list? Maybe he does, but it would definitely be closer to 50 than 1.

"PlayStation Suite" Announced by Sony - Now Play PSP Games On your Android Phones And Tablets

Playstation Suite is the new name in the world of mobile gaming. Basically Playstation Suite is an PSP Emulator for Android Phones which lets you play PSP Games directly on your Android Phone. Sony call this new gaming experience for Android mobile as “Playstation Suite”. According to President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Kaz Hirai “It expands the PlayStation experience beyond the PSP border. It is the first cross platform endeavour,”

Sony have announced a new version of the PSP dubbed the NGP (Next Generation Portable), for gaming on Android Phones and Tablets, this makes Playstation an “hardware-neutral game framework.”

Sony has Officially Revealed Sony PSP 2 A.k.a NGP [Images]

Sony has just announced the Sony PSP 2 at the Tokyo event now. It has a high resolution Screen of 960 x 544 resolution and  5 inch OLED Display. Sony PSP 2 has Dual analog sticks, front and back touchpads, The touch back is probably the biggest surprise, lots of opportunity for new interaction there. It has 3G and Wi-Fi capabilities. It will be released this holiday season. It has front and rear cameras.

It’s actually codenamed NGP and will revolve around five key concepts: Revolutionary User Interface, Social Connectivity, Location-based Entertainment, Converging Real and Virtual (augmented) Reality.

Games will come on “new media,” not UMD anymore, but we’re unclear on what sort of flash memory is being used.

Custom Firmware Hack for PS3 Released [First Hack released, working properly]

The leaked PS3 root key has spawned its first public hack, with instructions surfacing on how owners can create their own custom firmware. If you’ve got Linux and some skills in the field of programming, you can now do exactly that. Capitalising on the work done last week by the fail0verflow team in breaking the PS3′s copy protection wide open, KaKaRoTo has released a set of tools that allow users to create their own, custom piece of PS3 firmware. The actual usefulness of the hack is questionable at this stage; there’s no support for running homebrew apps or backup copies of games, and according to the creator it’s all “really meant for future homebrew installation” and “will not allow piracy.”

The advantage here is that you can do it for any firmware, if you want to keep version 3.41, then give it the 3.41 update, if you are on 3.55 already and can’t downgrade, then run the script on the official 3.55 firmware and it will create a modified 3.55 firmware.
You can put the file in a USB drive under the filename “PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP” and then go to system update in the XMB, and it will allow you to install the update (even if you’re already on 3.55).

That might come as some relief to Sony, who were facing the possibility of pirated games being run on PS3 consoles no matter which firmware version they were running, but it seems only a matter of time until someone less copyright-conscious comes along with an alternate hack.
