HTC EVO 4G Review

HTC EVO 4G is big. Even though this device is relatively large, it isn't too heavy. The "buttons" under the display are touch sensitive, so the front of the device is unbroken. That kickstand deserves special mention; the EVO 4G is the first phone I have encountered that has one. It works very well in landscape mode, and makes watching video on the device much more pleasant and enjoyable.
The phone can be balanced on the stand in portrait mode, but it is somewhat unstable and if you touch the display the phone will likely tip over.

The 4.3-inch WVGA touchscreen on the EVO 4G is absolutely gorgeous. That is due in part to the significantly larger display on this device as compared to other mobile phones.
I found the virtual keyboard to be much easier to use on the EVO than on other devices I've used recently because it is bigger, thanks to the 4.3-inch screen. The headphone jack is on the top of the phone, as is the power button. The charge/sync port and the HDMI video-out port are on the bottom of the phone.
On the back of the EVO 4G you will find the camera lens and dual led flash on the top, with the kickstand near the bottom of the device.

The battery compartment cover is relatively easy to remove if necessary. An 8 GB card comes with the phone; cards up to 32 GB in capacity are supported.

As expected, the HTC EVO 4G is fast; it has the same 1 GHz Snapdragon processor as Verizon's HTC Droid Incredible.

Call quality test results are mixed; some of my callers praised the voice quality, one caller said that I sounded somewhat muffled, and a fellow smartphone reviewer gave the EVO 4G a "C" rating. I was quite pleased with the call quality on my end; whether I was calling a landline phone or another mobile phone, everything came through loud and clear. If you need help figuring out where you're going, both Google Maps and Sprint Navigation are included. If social networking is your game, Peep is a really nice Twitter client, and fun to use. If mobile gaming is your thing, the included Teeter game is a good start. The web browsing experience is absolutely incredible, especially with 4G. Combine that with the larger display, and you can see that the Web experience on the EVO 4G is a great one.

The 8 megapixel camera is simply a joy to use, providing excellent photos and very quick image capture. Video recording results are very good, which is great news for social networking fans who are eager to try out the Qik app included with the EVO 4G. You can record video with either the 8 megapixel camera on the back of the phone or the forward-facing 1.3 megapixel camera, which is a great to have if you're trying to be the next YouTube sensation.
